FAQ
What percentage of properties are freehold?
Approximately 65% of residential properties in England and Wales are freehold. Houses are predominantly freehold; flats are predominantly leasehold.
Can I look up who owns a property by address?
Yes — pass an address to the API and it will return the UPRN-matched title record including the registered proprietor where the property is registered at Land Registry.
Are unregistered properties included?
Unregistered properties (estimated at around 10–15% of land in England and Wales) are not included — Land Registry data only covers registered titles. Properties registered for the first time since 1990 are almost all included.
