Two of the seven weighted IMD domains: income deprivation measures the proportion of an area's population in income-deprived households, while employment deprivation tracks involuntary exclusion from the labour market. Together they account for 45% of the overall IMD score.

Measures the proportion of an area's population experiencing income deprivation: adults and children on means-tested benefits, Universal Credit (low income), and asylum seekers.
Measures involuntary exclusion from the labour market: people claiming ESA, JSA, Incapacity Benefit, Severe Disablement, or Carer's Allowance.

IMD weighting
Income = 22.5% of overall IMD. Employment = 22.5%. These two domains alone determine nearly half the overall deprivation score.
